Xantel was a start-up I joined in the dot com era. I was the first employee. I developed the first prototype and assembled and led the software team.
Xantel’s vision was to pioneer desktop call control. Call, fax, and messaging services were combined and brought under control of desktop computers where highly specialized software could improve the user experience and enable a new generation of customized features. Funding was led by Benchmark Venture Capital (eBay, Twitter, Snapchat). After a few years, Xantel wound down due to market timing issues and failing to meet very high expectations.
